Traditional Teaching versus e-Learning Efstratios Papanis University of the Aegean Sociology Department 81-100 Mytilene, Greece email: e.papanis@soc.aegean.gr Abstract In the present study an experiment was carried out in order to investigate the effectiveness of traditional teaching as compared to e-learning. Fifty students of various departments were divided in two subgroups (in vivo instruction and e-learning instructions) and were taught negotiation skills. Assessments of knowledge, application of knowledge, evaluation forms and self-report questionnaires were used. Results showed statistically significant differences in all measurements in favour of traditional teaching. It was hypothesized that attributions towards computer technology determined the outcomes of the assessment.
