University of the Aegean, Sociology Department Introduction The aim of this presentation is to point out the important role demographic factors and the natural-social capital play for local development, drawing upon the inductive model implemented on the insular region of the North Aegean Sea and the historical municipality of Agiasos, in Lesvos, Greece. Demographic trends are, first of all, closely related to the economic growth and social progress of a specific people or region.
